Atlantic Jazz Lab Orchestra and Esther Van Hees pay tribute to jazz’s legendary female voices

#NOWINTERFEST presents “A Serenade with the Ladies of Jazz”, an experience that brings together culture and tourism in unique venues in the Canaries.

The tour kicks off on Friday 29 November in Arrecife (Lanzarote) and ends on Sunday 8 December in Breña Alta (La Palma).

The Atlantic Jazz Lab company has put together a new edition of #NOWINTERFEST, in which the Atlantic Jazz Lab Orchestra (AJLO) and Esther Van Hees perform A Serenade with the Ladies of Jazz.

The songs that catapulted the great ladies of jazz to global fame can be heard live once again in a new edition of #NOWINTERFEST, thanks to the remarkable voice of Belgian singer Esther Van Hees and the talented musicians of the Atlantic Jazz Lab Orchestra, one of the most acclaimed orchestras on the Spanish music scene. Led by Canarian trumpeter Natanael Ramos, the orchestra features many musicians from the Canary Islands.

The #NOWINTERFEST show offers a unique cultural experience with an added tourism element given that the concerts take place in very special places, extraordinary settings in the Canaries that are perfectly suited for a repertoire of jazz classics.

In curating its current repertoire, the orchestra’s main interest has been to open jazz up to all kinds of audience and transform each concert into an unforgettable experience that, in turn, inspires further exploration of the songs and artists of this universal genre of music.

This latest edition of #NOWINTERFEST is sponsored by the government of the Canary Islands, via the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism and Next Generation EU funds, the Canarian Institute for Cultural Development, the Lanzarote Cabildo, San Sebastián de La Gomera Town Council and the town councils of Valverde and Antigua. Collaborators include the Cabildos of Fuerteventura, La Gomera and El Hierro, together with Breña Alta Town Council in La Palma.
